My name is Laura and I am the creator of laurakluga.com and proud retailer of Dixie Belle Paint Company products.
I love being creative and inspiring creativity in others! I just moved to Belleville, Illinois with my husband, John, after spending four glorious years living overseas in the southern part of Belgium. Together, we own a craft business featuring exclusive chalk paint classes using Dixie Belle Paint products and our own home decor items that we hand make from salvaged wood. We also carry a series of handmade make and take projects that are perfect for a unique craft project of your or to give as a gift!
All our handmade home decor items are one-of-a-kind.
We are excited to offer non-toxic and zero VOC chalk paint products by Dixie Belle made right here in the U.S.A.!
I discovered chalk paint over 7 years ago in a little shop near San Antonio, Texas and have been completely obsessed ever since!
One of the many reasons I grew to love chalk paint so much is its unique ability to stick to anything so you can "just start painting".
Through years of window-shopping and browsing stores across the world, I started finding my own unique style and without knowing it at the time, developing my brand.
Owning a successful business that positively influences the community has been a dream of mine for years.
We design and handmade all our class projects!
You are the creator once you have the paint brush in hand. We are there to guide you and remind you that there are no wrong answers. Imperfections are more beautiful than perfection!
Enjoy new friendships and fall in love with chalk paint !
For years, I wondered how I could use my love for teaching to bring people together. Once I discovered chalk paint, in the back of my mind I would have thoughts about teaching a DIY chalk paint class where people bring tired items from home to paint and give a new life.
In 2018, a local charity needed to raise money for their annual ball. I was excited and admittedly nervous to share this idea as a fundraiser and luckily the committee agreed! This is exactly how it all started! It was all meant to be!
My very first class was a fundraiser for an Air Force Ball event at a local arts + craft center! It was a "bring your own piece" class with unlimited wine! After this class, I received dozens of questions about when my next class would be!
After receiving dozens of messages, I decided to do another fundraiser using handmade wooden pumpkins. This was my first attempt at ever designing decor and using power tools! I loved it so much that the rest is history!
